Sold Out!

4 06 2012

For The entreprepreneur fair I made Magic  Heat Bags. They are a material bag filled with whole wheat kernels and sewed closed. For the fair we had to set up a table I enjoyed doing this Because I brought my microwave to school to heat the bags up for people. A lot of people said it was great marketing. One other thing I think helped me sell is I had a lot of different coloured fabrics. I think so too because I sold out and the other girl that was selling a similar product did not. I also liked making money so I could spend it. I wish I made more because Some people have asked me if I have any left over and if they could buy some! I learned how to count back cash properly like a cashier. This helped me because it made things faster. The only problem I had is I ran out of wheat to fill them with. Each student has to give 10% of their profit to a charity the class picked. The top three were S.P.C.A., Children’s Hospital in Vancouver, Free The Children. In the end S.P.C.A. won but some people didn’t want to donate to the S.P.C.A. so those people are putting their 10% to a different class’s charity.

123…Bake!

10 05 2012

Me and my best friend Emily Love to bake! Our favoutite thing to bake are Cupcakes! We like cupcakes because if you think about cupcakes they can be really Diverse. Theres so many variations like chocolate, vanilla, red velvet, lemon, mint you can even make cheese cake cupcakes!

We have made a couple of fondant  cakes before we did a pumpkin one with home maid fondant and just a plain white one with store bought fondant. Fondant is a sugar based dough. It tastes like marsh-mellows fondant is cool because your can make it different coulors and you can sculpt with it to make edible cake toppers.

Macaroons are a french dessert its like two meringue cookies with icing in the middle their crispy on the outside and kinda gooie on the inside. I have only made macaroons once they were almond flavor!

Summer… Come Faster!

10 05 2012

Lately it’s been getting nicer outside so me and my friend Shania went to the beach on the weekend. We were walking around in tide pools looking for little crabs  I picked up a big piece of wood and found a what I thought was a big crab shell. I picked it up but quickly realized that it was alive! It scared me so I dropped her! It was girl crab. I saw the beehive on her belly. I quickly called over my friend and she picked her up. Shania knew how to pick her up so she wouldn’t get pinched by her claws. We dug a hole in the sand and filled it with water for her and then we stared looking for another one. Sure enough we found one and we put her in the hole with the other one. We had a race to see which one could get to the marker in the sand first … but we got bored because they weren’t moving. After that we let them go and we went home. To be honest I don’t like the beach very much. I don’t like salt water. I only like swimming in fresh water like lakes and rivers. I don’t like the “seaweed” smell and the sand gets all over your clothes. I do like going to the beach to tan.

Do you like the beach?

Do you need a good book? I’v got one for you! The Help is a great novel full of mischief and fun it’s a blast back to the past. The book takes place in the 1960′s. The main characters, Minny and Aibileen, and many other maids attempt to write a book about African American maids and their personal experiences working for caucasian families in Jackson, Mississippi. Will they succeed?…and get enough maids’ to share their  stories?

Fire Safety!

9 05 2012

My class went on field trip to the fire hall at the end of April. We got to put out fires with fire extinguishers and grease fires with baking soda. We went there to learn how to be safe while you’re home alone and how to handle  fire safely.  At the end we each got a water bottle that reminded us to check our smoke alarms at home, plan an escape route in the case of a house fire and to call 9-1-1 when we need to. Here are some interesting facts about fire safety:

  • Don’t turn your back on the fire even if you put it out! It might start again.
  • Don’t touch fire works! They might still be explosive and can really hurt you. People have lost fingers and worse.
  • Never put out a grease fire with water because it will explode. Always use a  fire extinguisher or baking soda.
  • Smoke is really dangerous. More people are killed by smoke than flames! So always crawl under smoke and get out fast.
  • If there has been a fire and you or someone else puts it out you still need to call the fire department.
  • Do not try to put out a fire if it is bigger than you.

Have you ever been to the fire hall to learn about fire safety?

Shopping! ♥

7 05 2012

I love shopping! My favourite places to shop are Garage Hollister, American Eagle. At Garage I can always find something I love whether it’s a bathing suit, a cute shirt, purse or a romper. I usually shop online for Hollister clothes. I love their shirts for the summer time. My favourite styles right now are lace, floral and Aztec/Tribal shirts. I love wearing floral shirts with a high a waisted skirt. I also like wearing tribal shirts with leggings, or lace shirts with jeans. I love cardigans they look great with everything, whether it’s a skirt, jeans or leggings cardigans will pretty much always go will anything. They are also great for layering for all seasons!  I also like Urban Planet because they have a variety of things. We don’t have any good shopping in my city so I have to travel at least an hour and a half  to get to a big city. For my sports wear like dance clothes I shop in Lululemon Athletica and Ivivva Athletica. I get my dance wear for Ivviva and jogging clothes from Lululemon. I also have leggings from Lululemon.

Do you like shopping if so where do you like to shop?

Clean up Your Community!

3 05 2012

On April 19th my class went on a walk down to a local park to pick up garbage. Over10 000 kids on Vancouver Island did the same because they were also part of the Tim Hortons Community Clean-Up. At first I wasn’t to thrilled about going on a walk in the cold muddy forest, but in the end it was so worth it! It felt really good to clean up my community.

I was really surprised at the amount of garbage we found! We found jerry cans, house siding, a water dispenser, a chair, a hose and a ton of general litter. There was even a big old rusty tractor but it was to heavy to take along with us. I even found an aerosol air freshener in a small creek.

People really need to watch where they’re putting garbage! I hope people in our community realize how much litter there is around and help our community stay clean.

Our class collected 10 big garbage bags full of litter and then there were some other things that couldn’t fit in a garbage bag like the items mentioned above as well as a metal rail, a large metal sheet and big blocks of styrofoam.

Have you cleaned up your community lately?

Dance!

27 04 2012

I’m in three dances Fusion, Ballet and Jazz . My Friends EmilyShania and Dharma they are also bloggers! Emily and Shania are in my Fusion and Emily is also in my ballet!

This week was bring your friend to dance day I brought my friend Josee to my ballet and she really liked it! She does competitive gymnastics 16 hours a week so she was happy to have a change.

My favourite dance that I take is Fusion! We do acrobatics and a lot of improv… how our improv works is my teacher will  split us into two groups and gives us something random like a vacuum and we would try and interpret a vacuum but trough dance! Ballet can be kind of boring some times but it’s worth it to go through boring exercise because it gives you good technique.

I love my Ballet year end dance out of all of my year end dances. It’s called Sapphire because we wear beautiful sapphire dress. For Fusion the dance is called Night Flight we are suppose to be bats or just kinda of flying night creatures our costumes are black  shrugs with sheer material to look like wings and my jazz costumes has a jacket  thats shiny patchs of different colours. Do you take dance classes? Do you like to dance at all?

British Columbia…You Gotta Be Here!

26 04 2012

If you come visit Canada B.C you should visit…

- The Vancouver Aquarium. The  Vancouver Aquarium is a great place for families and animal lovers to Visit. I have been to the Vancouver Aquarium Twice once on a school field trip and once  with my family. My favourite part was the porpoise show! The  porpoises Jumped REALLY high and did all kinds of flips and tricks!

-Or you could go to Wild Play they have many locations around B.C . Such as, Maple Ridge, Nanaimo, West Shore Victoria and Whistler. You can do the Zoom Zip lines Monkido Course Which is a obstacle course up high in the trees. You wear a harness to keep you from falling. They also have the King Swing that’s where you are up on a really high bridge and you are sitting in a big harness, then you drop down and swing over the water really fast. Kind of like a swing!

-Victoria Bug Zoo Is tons of fun for the whole family (unless you don’t like bugs!)

-PNE A great Amusement Park for all ages. There are many different rides to choose from, and fun Carnival games!

-Mt.Washington  Is a great place for all seasons! Winter, fall and early spring are great for snow boarding, skiing , sledding, snow shoeing and more. In the late spring to summer is great for hiking,Mt. biking, picnics, and swimming at one of it’s many lakes!
